From the “house under the birches” to a hotel

The Höllriegl through the ages

HOW IT ALL BEGAN...

The “House under the birches that grow down to the Talfer River” was built in 1280. Later, the building became the "Rotgerberhaus", or red tanner's house, since tanned leather and straps were worked there. Dr. Höllriegl discovered the house and bought it around 1880. After that, he transformed it into an inn, which became a popular meeting place that still bears his name today.

NEW SHINE TO THE OLD BUILDING

1956 – a new chapter: The Aichner family acquired the inn and with a lot of love and dedication the house was renovated and evolved.

The biggest transformation happened in 2014: The ample renovations included tearing down the upper floors and reconstructing them, putting an eye on combining modern comfort with traditional charm.
Looking at the walls you can see how important history is to this place. Ancient postcards tell from former times and remind us that tradition is not only preserved but proudly lived.
